Visitor numbers rose 2.1 percent during first quarter in Collier for a fourth straight month, compared with the previous year.

The county saw more visitors coming from four of its six largest feeder markets in March, with tourism from Atlanta, Memphis and Louisville being particularly strong.

A bright spot in March was a noticeable increase in European visitation, which had been trending down. It grew 15.6 percent over the year last month — equating to more than 37,000 visitors.

Signs point to continued improvement in European visitation, with 37,328 visitors, an increase of 15.6 percent.
