Four hotel projects proposed in Estero are making their way through the community development pipeline. If approved, the projects would add more than 500 hotel rooms to the south Lee County village.

Plans for the four hotels each are located in different parts of Estero — as far east as Miromar Outlets and as far west as the southwest corner of Coconut Road and U.S. 41. They are multi-story buildings of 100 to 175 rooms and amenities for guests.

Hotel developers and tourism industry leaders suggest the new hotel plans show that Estero is a hot market. They credit the favorable climate to nearby high-profile projects, such as the $140 million Lee Health – Coconut Point medical facility set to open in December or the Hertz global headquarters.

The village is a Lee County shopping landmark — it is home to two of its major malls. Estero is about midway between Fort Myers and Naples, which puts tourists in a convenient location for commuting to both.
