The PetPeople chain of neighborhood stores for pet supplies and natural dog and cat foods is opening its first five Florida stores in Collier and Lee counties this year.

PetPeople plans to open five company stores this year in Collier and Lee counties. In addition to the Naples store next to Publix in the Neapolitan Way shopping center on U.S. 4 – due to open in August – stores with dog washes also are in the works for North Naples, Bonita Springs, south Fort Myers and Cape Coral.

Besides this Naples location, PetPeople plans stores in two other Publix-anchored shopping centers in the area. The chain will have a store next to North Naples Veterinary Hospital in Naples Walk retail center on the southeast corner of Airport-Pulling and Vanderbilt Beach roads in North Naples.

Elsewhere in Lee County, PetPeople will land in the middle of the Shops at Santa Barbara in Cape Coral. Another store will be next to Whole Foods Market at the new Daniels Marketplace retail center under construction on Daniels Parkway in south Fort Myers.

A unique feature in most PetPeople stores is the “Spaw” self-service dog wash. The store provides the towels, shampoo and dryers for people to bathe their pets. The best part of this service is that store employees clean up afterward.
