The latest news: The Residences at University Village is now near completion and has been fully leased to 924 students for the 2019-20 academic year.

Built by Estero-based Miromar Development, the first phase of The Residences opened in August 2018. Its two- and four-bedroom apartments offer private bedrooms and bathrooms for each student and full kitchens with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. Each apartment is furnished, including washer and dryer, according to a statement. 

Amenities, he release adds, include a 14,400-square-foot clubhouse offering a clubroom with full kitchen, gathering areas and a double-sided fireplace; a fitness center and fitness on demand studio for instructor- or video-led exercise; a game room with billiards table, foosball, shuffleboard and gaming TVs; a theater; and a cyber lounge equipped with state-of-the-art computer and quiet study pods. Outdoor amenities include a freeform resort-style pool, fire pit and beach volleyball court.

The retail center at University Village includes a variety of restaurants and services available to students and the public. Get Fried, a French fry café, is expected to open in mid-March; KC American Bistro is scheduled to open in April. Also expected to open in the coming months are Marlins Brewhouse and Slicers Hoagies.   

University Village Shops features Santa Barbara-inspired architecture with white sand-finish stucco buildings accented with rounded towers, decorative tile insets and arched windows and openings. The retail center offers promenades, patios and a central plaza with a main courtyard overlooking a fountain and a lake.
